The Enterprise Security Services (ESS) Line of Business (LoB) Division, established in 2011, serves as a designated Shared Service Center (SSC) for Information System Security Services within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). ESS plays a critical role in supporting and facilitating the implementation of federal and agency-specific mandates and guidance related to Risk Management Framework (RMF) solutions, as outlined in NIST Special Publication 800-37.

ESS services are designed to streamline and strengthen federal cybersecurity efforts by offering subject matter expertise in security accreditation and authorization, reducing the cost and burden of completing these processes across the government. The division also provides thorough evaluation and validation of information system security risks to ensure compliance with NIST SP regulations, policies, and procedures. Additionally, ESS helps agencies meet defined timelines for conducting technical analysis of information system vulnerabilities.

To support these objectives, ESS offers a broad range of services, including:

• Security Control Assessment (SCA) Services
• Security Consulting Services (SCS)
